Local text processing

Text entered into Wordcount is processed entirely in your browser. It is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Local preferences

When you select a light or dark theme or change which analysis panels are visible, these preferences are stored under the keys theme and word-count-settings in your browser's local storage. The values are not transmitted to us and can be removed through your browser settings.

Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by an external service provider in Germany. When you access the website, the hosting provider may process technical request data such as your IP address, access time, requested resource, referrer, browser and operating-system information, and response status.

This processing is necessary to deliver the website and protect its security and stability. It is based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure and reliable website pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The hosting provider processes this data on our behalf where required under Art. 28 GDPR.

Server-log data is deleted or anonymized when it is no longer required for these purposes, unless a legal obligation or a specific security incident requires longer retention.

Cookies and tracking

Wordcount does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising, or other tracking services.

Transport encryption

The website is delivered over HTTPS using current TLS encryption to protect data in transit.

Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive your personal data and to object to its processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
